Volharding Game Ranch is situated in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
The ranch is 2000 Hectares or 4942 acres of unspoilt South African bushveld.
The region is also known as the " Limpopo Valley " which is a small duplicate of the widely known "Zambezi Valley" with trees occuring like the Mopane tree (Colospermum mopane), "Hardekool" Leadwood tree (Combretum imberbe), Baobab or "Kremetart boom" (Adansonia digitata) and various other beautiful trees.
Fauna: animals, birds and reptiles occuring on the ranch ranges from antelope like:
Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros)
Gemsbuck(Oryx gazella)
Impala (Aepyceros melampus)
Eland (Taurotragus oryx)
Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus)
Common duiker (Sylvicapra grimmia)
Steenbuck (Raphicerus campestris)
Zebra (Equus burchelli)
Wild Pigs like:
Warthog (Phacochoerus aethiopicus)
Bushpig (Potamochoerus porcus)
Game birds occuring here are:
Guineafowl (Numida meleagris)
Crested Frankolin (Francolinus sephaena)
Crested guineafowl (Guttera pucherani)
Also occuring some of the most fascinating snakes, some venomous. The large African Rock Python is also present.
Predators like the Leopard (Panthera pardus), Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) , Black Backed Jackal (Canis mesomelas) & the Caracal (Felis caracal), Brown Hyeana (Hyaena brunnea).
Birdwatching is a popular pastime, please remember to bring along your spotting scope & binoculars. We have recorded more than 150 bird species on the Ranch. Your camera is a must!!!
An abundance of Baboons and Vervet Monkeys is also prevailant.
